Welcome to the memorial page for

James J Wade Jr.

March 17, 1936 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

After a lengthy illness, James J. Wade Jr. went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2017.  He was born to James J. Wade Sr. and Gertrude Wade in Charleston, SC on March 17, 1936.  James successfully matriculated through the Charleston public school’s system and later began his journey in the work force.  Always a very industrious man, he believed in the value of hard work. He instilled the same in his children and taught on the importance of having a solid income.

After several years of working for various trucking companies, James purchased his own 18-wheeler truck.  He enjoyed trucks and fixing them too.  So much so that he openly shared his gift with others.  For several years he took pleasure in picking up and dropping off packages along the eastern seaboard throughout the United States. Driving trucks was indeed one of the major joys of his life.

James later moved to Boston, MA where he met and married Lucille Murray. Oh how he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  As a domesticated man, James even had some culinary skills.  He liked to cook and experiment with different types of food.  In fact, there was a time when he taught some of his daughters how to make Chinese food from scratch.  However, since his wife Lucille was such a great cook, he didn’t have to cook as much.  He certainly loved to come off the road and home to her wonderful meals.  James enjoyed fishing and socializing with his close friends and neighbors. He was always an upbeat and mild-mannered person. Never one to yell and scream at the kids; he had great inner strength, which in turn produced patience and fatherly love.

When James took ill later on in life, he continued to travel from South Carolina to Boston until his health challenges no longer permitted him to do so. While in Boston, he joined the Prayer Room Church and got saved under the leadership of his sister-in-law, Bishop Geneva Glover. He enjoyed attending church, listening to gospel music, and hearing the powerful message of Jesus Christ. When he relocated to Eutawville, SC, he joined the Silas United Methodist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rogers and later Pastor Middleton.

James J. Wade, Jr. loved his family dearly and his family loved him as well. He was a good neighbor, friend, family member, and honest business man.  Although he is no longer with us, he leaves behind a very powerful legacy of hard work, determination, and peace. His wife, Rev. Lucille Murray Wade worked so hard to keep him comfortable, cared for and loved…even in the midst of his illness.  However, he is now with the Lord and no longer requires the assistance of medicine, doctors or others on his journey.  James leaves behind to cherish his loving memory; his lovely wife: Lucille Murray Wade; his devoted children: James J. Wade, Jr.  (Rochelle Y, Wade), Arletha Wade, Valeria Wade Waller (Sandy Walker), Carol Wade, Trellis Phillips (Eric Phillips), Maria Wade Brown, Darryl Wade Murray, Vanessa Murray Wade, Janaysha Wade Murray, Dinah Murray, Jalen Wade Murray, Sharon Murray Turner, Luella Dickerson (Bishop William E. Dickerson, II), Theresa Barbour (Kevin Barbour), Christine Mayfield (Boyd Mayfield-Deceased), and Talekia Roberson (Lume Roberson); his siblings: Thelma Brown, Oliver Wade (Gladys Wade), Na’im Naji Sidiq, Rickey Wrighten, Kenny Wrighten (Meredith Wrighten), Lenord Wrighten (Andrea Wrighten), Kathaleen Gibbs (Ezekial Gribbs-Deceased), Nami E. Ancream (Deceased), Barbara Mitchell (Deceased),  Jacob Mitchell (Deceased), Herbert Wade (Deceased) and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
