Essie Mae Greene Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Essie Mae Greene, 70, of Elloree South Carolina, who passed on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Prisma  Health Richland Hospital. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and guidelines when visiting the family and funeral home. Masks are NOT required but encouraged.

Essie was born to Willie and Lucille Martin in Elloree, South Carolina. She graduated from Elloree High School in May of 1971 and graduated from Columbia Commerical College in 1973.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 30, 1974, in Charleston, South Carolina. She started reguar pioneering on September 1, 1989. She loved people and spent many years telling others about the hope of a better world when death is no more and of the resurrection.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lucille Martin, brothers, Willie E. Martin and Nathaniel Martin; sisters, Juliette Martin, Roselyn Martin, and Gloria Martin; son, Kharon Greene.

to cherish her memory: Husband of 48 years, Larry Greene; Children: Eljon (wife Maria), Larqionva Wright (husband Carey), and Larnessa Greene; Grandchildren: Anthony Greene, Donovan Wright, Isabelle Greene, and Tristen Wright; Sister: Bessie Prioleau (husband Ira); and aunt Mildred Sweat. Along with a host of other family and friends. 

Essie is dearly known and highly regarded for her sincere hospitality and generous spirit. She loved decorating and was an avid gardener with a true green thumb. She enjoyed playing and teaching others to play card games but especially to quietly win most of the time. Most of all, known for her zealous spirit in the ministry and love for the truth.   NO VIEWING
