Hester Mae Broughton Glover Life Reflections
Who can find a virtuous woman On October 27, 1954 a beautiful diamond was created whose life would shine brightly for all of her loved ones to see. After 69 happy and loving years God decided to welcome His diamond into His arms on Friday February 23, 2024.
Hester Mae Broughton Glover, the daughter of the late Sarah Ada Broughton was born in Charleston, SC on October 27, 1954. Hester was affectionately known as Essie Mae to her family; Massa to the kitchen committee; Florence to Jolene; Hessie Mae to so many; and was known as Ma or Mom to many that grew to know her and love her because of the love she shared with them. She believed that everyone deserved to be loved because GOD is love and it was what He created her for.
Hester attended the Charleston County Public Schools system and graduated with the class of 1974 from Bonds Wilson High School. She furthered her education at Rice Business College where she obtained her Associates degree in Business Administration. She was employed by the K-Mart Corporation as a Pharmacy Technician for over 15 years, after relocating to Cross, SC, she joined the CVS Pharmacy family until she retired in 1997.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Unity Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until 1978. Hester joined Jehovah A.M.E. Church in 1979 under the Pastorship of Retired Elder Rev. Samuel Myers. Hester was a faithful member of the Steward Board. She was the Christian Education Director, Head of the Kitchen Committee, 1st Vice President of the Women's Missionary Society, she was also a member of the Pastors Aid Board, and the Lay Organization.
After Hester's aunt Rubystein P Major introduced her to William, they began to date. Hester finally gave in after 2 years of William telling her he worked at the shipyard and could buy her anything she wanted*.Hester finally said YES!!! Hester and William were united in holy matrimony on July 15, 1979.
Hester was a proud member of the Jehovah Chapter #203 Order Of The Eastern Star since 1982. She was a member of the NAACP (Cross Branch). Hester also volunteered with the Berkeley County Substation Cross Site. Hester was a proud member of the GOLDEN GIRLS social group. In her spare time she loved to bake and spend time with her family.
