Eddie James

Eddie James the son of the late Mr. Edgar and Ethel Lee James was born August 18, 1951 in Eutawville, South Carolina. He entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 5:10 p.m. after a long battle with cancer.

He grew up in Orangeburg County and attended the public schools there. At an early age he accepted Christ as his lord and Savior and was baptized at Springhill Baptist church.

Over the years he held many jobs. Eddie worked as an employee for Holly Hill Lumber Yard, a mattress company in Cameron, and Pickington Security in New York City. He then moved to Northern Virginia where he worked for Waste Management and various other companies.

Eddie enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and collecting antiques like Fred Sandford. He was also known for telling his infamous jokes and stories.

He was preceded in death by two siblings: Henry sumpter and Sarah Bell Simmons; a niece, Shana James, and a nephew, Raymond James.

He leaves to cherish in his memories: his wife  Jacqueline Labad James; two daughters, Geneva Lee and Camille Labad; seven sons, Eddie Lee, Cory Mitchell, Eric Canty (Sherry), Alcinda Matthew, Sigmund James, Troy Labad (Lueveda), and Anton Harris; four sisters, Carrie (Edward) Simmons, Elouise Wright, Joyce James, and Lucreshia “TrishAnn” James; four brothers, Edgar (Jannie) James, March (Cathy) James, Rodney (Danita) James, and Harrison James; one sister-in-law, Patricia Hazelton; four aunts, Ruth Montgomery, Mary Smith, Neatha Kennedy, and Betsy Mitchell; one uncle, Nathaniel Green; 46 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and one great- great grandchild; one special nephew, Derrick James and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jimmy and Lena Johnson for all their love and support during his illness.
