Katie Simmons Obituary

Mrs. Katie Mae Simmons the daughter of the late Douglas Brown and Margaret Rivers Brown, was born May 8, 1932 in Eutawville, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday April 18, 2019 at her residence in Eutawville, SC.

Katie was married to the late Ben Simmons who preceded her in death. Also, she had three brothers Prince, Robert, and William who preceded her in death.

Katie attended the public schools of Orangeburg County and became a member of St. James Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. Sometime in 1957 Katie moved with her children to Far Rockaway, NY to join her husband, who had moved there prior to her arrival. During her time in New York, she joined St. Johns Baptist Church in Far Rockaway and served on the Usher Board. Katie and Ben returned to Eutawville, SC in 1978.

Katie leaves to celebrate her life: three sons Andrew (Nancy) Simmons of Malvern, Long Island, Ralph (Benita) Simmons of Cambria Heights, NY, and Benjamin (Vernae) Simmons of Yonkers, NY; two daughters, Linda Glover and Alfreda Simmons of Eutawville, SC; one brother, Joe Lewis (Brenda) Brown of Bronx, NY; three sisters-in-law, Florine Brown, Dafney Washington, and Janie Brown; nine grandchildren, Andrew Cheddi Simmons, Nathaniel Simmons, Elizabeth Daniele Simmons, Nina Simmons, Jamel Young, Charisse Simmons, Katia Simmons, Joseph Simmons, and Benjamin Glover; six great grandchildren, Aaron Simmons, April Simmons, Adam Simmons, Beatrix Simmons, Owen Simmons, and Aiden Stephen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
