Leon Green

Leon Green, the son of the late Benjamin and Rebecca Green was born June 27, 1927 in Holly Hill, SC. On June 8, 2018, he peacefully transitioned to his eternal home. Leon accepted the Lord as his Savior and was a member of the Greater Target A.M.E. Church of Holly Hill, SC where he faithfully attended until his health began to fail.

Introduced to hard work at an early age, Leon, understood the value of being a committed worker. He worked at the Holly Hill Lumber Company for many years. He mastered carpentry and had a reputation in the community as one to provide high-quality products and services, often below costs. He believed everyone should have access to affordable and top-rated work. Leon loved all things, including wrestling and gardening. If you were to stop in for a visit, you’d likely catch him in the middle of a wrestling match. Although, he’d be happy to see you, he wasn’t going to miss out on the action by talking with you. Conversations would have to wait until a commercial or until the match was over. Until his health challenged his ability to do so, he spent time each season planting his garden.

In January 1978, Leon was joined in holy matrimony to the former Diane Bryant. To this union two children were born. Leon was preceded in sleep by his parents, Benjamin and Rebecca Green, and all of his siblings: Braton Green, Julia Green Griffis, Clarence Hildebrand Green, Mary Lee Green Sheppard, Florie Lee Green Baxter, Alberta Green, Janie Green, Fredrena Green Sprinkle Clawson, and Clara Mae Green, Gertrude Green Stukes, Hudson Robinson, and Hal Robinson.

Those Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Diane Green of New Haven, CT; daughter, Leonisha Green and son, Benjamin Green, both of Holly Hill, SC; one step-son Joshua Bradley of Bridgeport, CT; two grandsons, Eian and Ethan Dantzler, who brought him great joy; a devoted friend, Dia Dantzler of Columbia, SC; three sisters-in-law: Betty Littleton, Ollie Young, and Doretta Hilliard; one brother-in-law, Clarence Bryant Jr.; a very close friend, John Benjamin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
