Mary Davis Smith was born August 1, 1926 in Eutawville, South Carolina to the late Sam and Alean Green. Mary fell asleep in death on Monday, January 13, 2020.
Mary dedicated her life to Jehovah God in New York in 1948. When Mary returned home to South Carolina, in the early 1950s, she taught Bible truth to her family and neighbors.
Mary and her siblings enjoyed studying the watchtower together under the big Sycamore tree in their parents’ front yard. She was extremely happy to see many of her family members become faithful servants of Jehovah.
Mary Lee will be remembered for her kindness, her patience, her hospitality and for being a very good cook. Who could ever forget her tasty macaroni and cheese, sweet candied yams, and her Southern fried chicken?
Mary was married to the late William Davis for 52 years. She also was married to the late Eddie Lee Smith for 5 years. To this union she lovingly gained eight stepchildren.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories: one adopted son, John (Linda) Glover, Jr. of Eutawville, SC; two adopted daughters, Queen Austin of New York and Barbara Jamison of Florida; one brother, Samuel (Polly) Green of Eutawville, SC; one sister, Eula Washington of Eutawville SC; one brother-in-law, Marion Richards; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Lee Davis and Annie Green both of Eutawville, SC; six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; an adopted brother Robert (Muriel) Smith; special friends, Gus (Julia) Johnson and Eva Gadson all of Eutawville, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and very dear close friends.
