Myrtle Louise Shingler, daughter of the late Johnny (Dazzie) Shingler, Sr. was born in Orangeburg County on October 25, 1934. Louise went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
Louise was a graduate of Roberts High School in Holly Hill, South Carolina. She then journeyed to Washington D.C. While there she was a homemaker for a private family for many years.
She met the late James B. Johnson and they were married on December 23, 1956. They were blessed with 57 years of love and devotion.
Louise returned to South Carolina and renewed her membership with the Providence Baptist Church in Santee, South Carolina under the pastoral of Reverend Lonnie Robinson. She was a faithful member, active on the Pastor's Aide Board and the choir. She later became a member of the New Providence Baptist Church under the pastoral of Reverend Willie L. Carter.
She is preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Louise leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted, son Harry (Mary) Shingler of Santee, SC; two grandchildren, Jacey (Lotaria) Shingler of Lenior, NC and Jermaine Shingler of the home; two great-grandchildren, Shatara and Andre; two sisters, Vernell (Irvin) Edmonds of Santee, SC and Rubelle (Sammie) Adgerson of Washington D.C.; one sister-in-law, Margie Shingler of Santee, SC; two brothers-in-law, Cephas McKune of Washington D.C. and John Johnson of Dayton, OH; one aunt, Emma Lee McKune of Washington D.C.; a godson, Jeffrey Palmer of Santee, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Myrtle Johnson, 84, 2297 Bass Drive, Santee, departed this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00PM the day of service for viewing.
