Pernese Jenkins Garner affectionately known as "Dookie" was born February 15, 1940 to the late Riley Jenkins, Sr. and Jannie Pooser Jenkins. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at her home.
Pernese attended the public schools of Vance, SC and at an early age she was converted and baptized and became a full member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Vance, South Carolina.
She was united in Holy Wedlock to the late Lastley Lee "Bubba" Garner, Sr. on December 8, 1956. To this union five children were born and eight stepchildren that she loved and cherished dearly.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Robert Lee Jenkins, Elouise Oliver, Gold P. Jenkins, Riley Jenkins, Jr., and Annie Mae Elmore.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: her children, Leslie L. Jenkins of Vance, SC, and Helen Elmore of Vance, SC; brothers-in-law, Cleo (Thelma) Garner of Santee, SC, Wendell (Eva) Garner of Sumpter, SC, Joe N. Garner of Holly Hill, SC, and Archie (Geneva) Garner of Norwalk, CT; sisters-in-laws, Dorothy (Richard) Shaw of Santee, SC, Helen Porter of Santee, SC, Yvonne Garner of Charleston, SC, Shirley Davis of Norwalk, CT, and Betty Davis of Norwalk, CT; forty eight grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
