Mrs. Mary Lee Welfare, the daughter of the late David and Regenia Edwards Dailey was born on May 21, 1934 in Holly Hill, South Carolina and transitioned from Earth to her heavenly home on Monday, February 10, 2020.
She grew up in the Unity Community and attended the public schools of Holly Hill, South Carolina.
Slim or Boochie as she was known to many left South Carolina at an early age and moved to New jersey, and later moved to Coral Gables, Florida. There she resided for 50 plus years. While there She joined St. James Baptist Church. After returning home, she reconnected to Greater Unity A.M.E. Church.
She was formerly employed at the University of Miami for many years and later did housekeeping work.
Mary was a person who loved to speak her mind! She enjoyed telling others about how she was brought up and the good old days. She was a people person and an animal lover!
She was married to Mr. Daniel Welfare who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Jack, James, and Joseph Dailey and sisters Maybell Brooks-Dailey and Annie Howell.
She leaves loving memories to: her sisters: Allean (Freddie) Cokely of the home and Thelma Riley of Columbia, SC; five brothers: David (Lula) Dailey and George Dailey of Miami FL, Vandy (Annie Ruth) Dailey of Maryland, Thomas Dailey and Tommie (Sherika) Howe of Holly Hill, SC; sister-in-law, Francina Dailey; a close friend Rena of Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
