Mrs. Rosa Lee Brown, 80, formerly of Holly Hill, South Carolina departed her life on Thursday, September 3, 2020 in Washington, DC.
Rosa Lee Brown, affectionately known as "Anna", was born on August 8, 1940 in Holly Hill, South Carolina, to the late George and Martha Little. Rosa departed this life at her residence on Thursday, September 3, 2020 .
Rosa was educated in the Holly Hill area of Orangeburg County in South Carolina.
Rosa was united in holy matrimony on April 3, 1961 to Walter Brown, Sr. and to this union, Walter and Rosa were blessed with seven children. They relocated from South Carolina to Washington, DC where Rosa was employed by Hecht’s Company until her retirement in 2001.
Rosa accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior as a young adult, and shortly after arriving in Washington, DC, she became a dedicated member of New Samaritan Baptist Church, where she served until her passing. She has been a member of many ministries throughout her years of serving in the church. Most recently, she served on New Samaritan Baptist Church’s Hospitality Ministry, Senior Saints Ministry, Chosen Vessels Women’s Ministry, and the Music and Arts Ministry as a member of both the Senior Choir and Mass Choir.
Rosa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Rosa was preceded in death by: three of her children: Brenda Brown, Linda Brown, and Walter Brown, Jr.; her parents: George (Martha) Little; three sisters: Hattie Brown, Geneva Cole, and Celestine Little; two brothers: Tommy Lee Summers and James Little.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband of 59 years, Walter Brown, Sr., Washington, DC; four children: Annie Ruth (Vandy) Daily, Oxon Hill, MD; James Brown, Holly Hill, SC; Franklin (Wanda) Brown, Fredericksburg, VA; and Dorothy (Stanley) James, Santee, SC; one daughter-in-law: Mary Brown, Bowman, SC; one sister: Clara Daniels, Summerville, SC; one brother: Haywood Little, Elloree, SC; three brothers-in-law: Larry (Zadie) Brown, Eutawville, SC; Charles (Sylvia) Brown, Sumter, SC; Jeff (Rose) Brown, Jr., Orangeburg, SC; three sisters-in-law: Lizzie Keitt and Lula Bookhart, Santee, SC, and Geneva (Richard) Amous, Vance, SC; twenty grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
