Wesley Williams Obituary

Deacon Wesley Williams, the seventh child of the late R. K. and Victoria Williams was born September 2, 1939 in Holly Hill, SC, and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Trident Hospital in North Charleston, SC.

He grew up in Holly Hill, SC and attended the public school there, a graduate of the Roberts High School-Class of 1959. Wesley retired from New York City Transit after 22 years of service,

As a youth he was a member of Galilee Christian Church in Holly Hill, SC. He moved to NYC and became a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Harlem under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Y. T. Walker, and later moved back to South Carolina after retiring.

Wesley was a deacon and faithful member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church where he gave leadership to the Brotherhood Ministry, Pastor's Aide Ministry, Youth Ministry, a member of the Church Anniversary Committee, and the male choir.

Wess, Rev. as he was affectionately called by many family members and friends leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Mabel Williams; sons, Jeffrey Williams of New York and DJnuell Williams of Conyers, GA; one sister, Claritha W. Hampton of Mount Rainier, MD; one brother, Harold Samuel (Pastor Lula Samuels) of Columbia, SC; mother-in-law, Carrie Mitchum; three sisters-in-law, Eve Samuels of Summerville, SC, Martha Halls of Irvington NJ, and Barbara Jean Williams of Holly Hill, SC; three brothers-in-law, Harold (Jennifer) Mitchum of Baltimore, MD, Moses (Louise) Mitchum of Englewood, NJ, and Stephen Devine of Upper Marlboro, MD; his loving grandchildren, Deondre, Erin, Tayshana, Naseem, Kynadee, and Little Miss Aaliyah; a special cousin and the family advisor, Mrs. Lurleen Foster Palmer of Holly Hill, SC; two persons who refer to him as "pop," Edward (Carolyn) Bush of Vance, SC and Silvo Reyes of Lithonia, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
